The first warm-up session for the ITS European Congress was held in Setúbal on February 13. Under the theme “The sea and logistics,” the event was focused on assessing the current status and future steps of the port logistics sector, while also putting a focus on its specific intelligent system. Named Janela Única Logística, or Logistics Single Window, it is the intelligent system for the port logistics sector. This session was a natural fit for the Congress, given the global relevance of the maritime sector and the impact being felt by the transition to digital technologies. The event was a success both in attendance and engagement, with its program including a roundtable with representatives from leading operators, including APP (Portuguese Ports Association), AutoEuropa (VW Group), ANTRAM (National Association for the Road Transport of Goods) and Yilport.
Portuguese ports have long changed from a simple location to load and unload cargo. Since 2008, the first step to a fully functional intelligent system, the Janela Única Portuária (Port Single Window), has been deployed to harmonize the sector’s business processes. At the end of 2019, as a result of its evolution roadmap, the Logistics Single Window has become available, ensuring a smooth digital transition coupled with the harmonization of the processes for the ports logistics system.
This and much more will be featured at the ITS European Congress in Lisbon, a unique place for all of those interested to learn more about the digital transformation of the transportation sector and stay at the leading edge of Intelligent Transportation Systems in cities and regions.
