The ITS European Congress 2025 in Seville will welcome transport and mobility leaders, public authorities, innovators, and researchers from across Europe and beyond. Under the overarching theme “Clean, resilient, and Connected Mobility” the Congress opens with the promise of a compelling three-day programme dedicated to building smarter, more sustainable, and more inclusive transport systems across Europe.
The day opens with the Smart Mobility Summit of Cities and Regions, a high-level gathering where local and regional leaders from public sector will address the practical challenges of deploying intelligent mobility solutions at scale. This closed-door forum reinforces one of Congress’s defining messages that effective implementation starts with empowered cities and collaborative governance.
Throughout the day, delegates can attend 20 technical sessions, including 13 Special Interest Sessions and 7 Technical Paper Sessions, covering the essential foundations of intelligent mobility. Topics range from traffic efficiency and automation to mobility data exchange, clean vehicle technologies, and inclusive innovation, offering both context and technical depth.
Meanwhile, the Exhibition Hall opens as a vibrant showcase of new mobility solutions and services, featuring exhibitors such as CTAG, EasyPark, AUSSA, the European Commission, Ouster, and Monotch. This space offers visitors the opportunity to explore solutions across topics such as traffic optimisation, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Smart Infrastructures, all key enablers of operational change.
A new initiative at this year’s edition, the ITS Arena debuts in the Exhibition Area as the final step in the ITS development cycle. It is where forward-looking transport visions and technologies, shaped by innovation and deployment organisations worldwide, are translated into the products and services we use in everyday life. At the Arena, companies like Google Maps, Mastercard, Mercedes-Benz, and Amazon Robotics bring these innovations into the real world. Open to all, including Visitor Pass holders, the Arena opens the mobility conversation to the wider public.
Later in the day, Plenary Session 1 “The Green Shift – Accelerating a Sustainable Future through ITS” sets the tone for the Congress with a forward-looking discussion on how ITS can drive Europe’s transition to a greener, more inclusive mobility future. The discussion will highlight how technologies like digital twins, smart charging, and AI are helping cities manage urban space more efficiently and reduce emissions. Speakers will also address key enablers of clean transport adoption, including funding models, behavioural change, and community engagement.
At 16:15, the Opening Ceremony will bring attendees together for the official launch of the Congress. Congress organisers and public officials will formally welcome delegates and set the stage for the days ahead. This will be followed by the Welcome Reception from 17:30 to 18:30, offering an informal setting to connect with peers, exchange first impressions, and mark the beginning of an exciting and collaborative week.
As the first day unfolds, it establishes the momentum for a Congress built on collaboration, innovation, and forward-thinking leadership. With a focus on clean, resilient, and connected mobility, Day 1 lays the groundwork for the discussions and discoveries that will follow throughout the week.
